The annual pan-African recognition programme by Hexa Media Africa invites nominations for individuals and organisations creating measurable social impact across Africa.
ABUJA, NIGERIA | July 2026
Hexa Media Africa has opened nominations for the 2026 Humanitarians of Africa Awards, inviting the public to nominate individuals and organisations whose work is advancing humanitarian action, social innovation, community development, and sustainable development across Africa.
Now in its third edition, the Humanitarians of Africa Awards is an annual recognition programme under the Humanitarians of Africa Initiative, which celebrates and amplifies the work of non-profit leaders, social entrepreneurs, community organisations, volunteers, innovators, and other changemakers improving lives across the continent.
The awards were established to recognise outstanding contributions to Africa’s social impact sector while increasing the visibility of the individuals and organisations driving meaningful change in their communities. In doing so, they help strengthen credibility, encourage collaboration, and inspire greater public recognition of African-led solutions.
Across its first two editions, the Humanitarians of Africa Awards has:
- Attracted more than 1,500 nominees
- Received nominations from 25 African countries
- Recognised 24 award recipients
- Shared more than 50 stories highlighting humanitarian and social impact across Africa
Speaking on the opening of nominations, Emmanuella Imo Akubuko, Founder of Hexa Media Africa, said:
“Recognition is about more than celebrating achievement. It helps changemakers build credibility, opens doors to partnerships, and inspires others to take action. Across Africa, there are individuals and organisations transforming lives every day, often without the recognition they deserve. Through the Humanitarians of Africa Awards, we want to celebrate their contributions, elevate their stories, and encourage greater support for the work they do.”
The 2026 edition will recognise outstanding individuals and organisations across twelve award categories spanning humanitarian service, non-profit leadership, social entrepreneurship, innovation, community development, technology, advocacy, and other areas of social impact. The full list of award categories is available on the official Humanitarians of Africa Awards website.
Nominations are free and open to the public. Individuals, organisations, institutions, and community members are encouraged to nominate deserving changemakers, while self-nominations are also welcome.
Nominees must be based in Africa or actively serving African communities, demonstrate at least one year of verifiable impact, and contribute to one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Nominations close in August 2026. Winners will be announced in November 2026 during the Social Impact Marketing Summit (SIMS) 2026.
